China-made Hongqi E-HS9 luxury electric SUV comes loaded with impressive specs

The recent unveiling of the all-electric Hongqi E-HS9 full-size luxury SUV by state-owned manufacturer FAW Group is enough to prove just how far the Chinese automobile industry has evolved over the past few years.

Just around a decade ago, Chinese cars were mocked and ridiculed for their poor quality and performance, but the automotive manufacturers of the Asian country evolved and grown to unprecedented heights by developing and launching new, innovative vehicles with unique features.

The Hongqi E-HS9 luxury electric SUV boasts a unique look as well as premium features that one can expect only from a well-established automaker. In size, it is equal to a BMW X7, which offers large rear legroom in addition to space for a third row of seats. The manufacturer has announced that it will be made available as a six or seven-seater.

Being high in quality, it easily impressed reviewers in Europe. According to reviewers, the new EV’s external as well as internal quality is excellent. Its first-rate interior is attractive enough to catch the attention of the viewer in the very first sight.

As per available information, the Hongqi E-HS9 will be rolled out in two battery versions: one with 76.5-kWh usable capacity and the other with 90-kWh usable capacity. The first has 76.5-kWh battery version will produce 436 horsepower (hp), while the bigger 90-kWh version will produce 551 hp. The EV with the larger battery pack will be able to sprint from zero to 100 km/h in merely 4.9 seconds. In terms of charging, it will be fast enough, with the ability to replenish the battery pack from 10 to 80 per cent in just 35 minutes.

The Hongqi E-HS9 was originally previewed as the Hongqi E115 Concept during the2019 Guangzhou Auto Show and the 2019 International Motor Show in Germany. Later in 2020, it production version was unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show.

The NEDC range of Hongqi E-HS9 luxury SUV has been rated at 510 km per full charge. Its unique technical specs and features include intelligent sensor steering wheel, six smart screens, and the ability to autonomously park itself and adjust air suspension height for the greatest wireless charging alignment with charging point. Featuring a dual-color design with 22-inch wheels, the new e-SUV has dimensions of 5209 mm, 2010 mm, and 1731 mm, with a wheelbase of 3110 mm.

However, all those eye-catching specs ad features come at a considerable cost of $80,000 to $110,000, depending on the versions.
