Czech automobile manufacturer Skoda has indirectly leaked some specifications of the 2024 Kodiaq mid-size crossover SUV ahead of its official release later this year. Skoda Kodiaq was first launched in the year of 2016 as Volkswagen Tiguan’s larger counterpart, and this spacious SUV received a facelift in early 2021. Earlier this month, we got the first proper look at its successor – the 2024 Kodiaq PHEV.

The latest variant of the Kodiaq was technically camouflaged, but the disguise was thin enough to reveal a lot about the upcoming vehicle’s exterior. Captured images of the 2024 Kodiaq are enough to suggest that the new vehicle will not be embrace the Modern Solid design language that the Czech automaker has teased for its next-generation electric vehicles (EVs). The upcoming SUV will thus feature a recognizable look.

As in most of the modern SUVs, its headlights can be seen flanking a wide corporate grille. In the front bumper channel, there are also vertical air curtains for better airflow.

As per a report published by TopNews, the radar sensor on Skoda Kodiaq PHEV is small, and it apparently needs to be seamlessly integrated. As part of its efforts to improve aerodynamic efficiency, the pillars for the mirrors have been moved slightly down. Measuring 758 mm (roughly 187.3 inches), the 2nd-generation Kodiaq is 61 mm (2.4 inches) longer than the existing model. The wheelbase of the vehicle has been kept intact, at 2791 mm (110 inches).

On the rear end, there are flatter taillights, which probably extend onto the tailgate that provides access to an impressively spacious cargo area. The seven-seat variant of the vehicle offers space between 340 to 845 liters depending on whether the rear seats are folded or not. The five-seat variant offers space of 910 liters, which represents an increase of 75 liters compared to the 1st-generation model. In the three-row model, the rearmost passengers will get an additional headroom of 15 mm.

When it comes to powertrain, the 2024 Kodiaq SUV will come equipped with a mild-hybrid 1.5-liter TSI engine capable of churning out 150 horsepower (110 kW). A seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission system supplies that power to the front wheels. The 2.0 TSI variant will deliver 204 horsepower (150 kW) with AWD powertrain. On the diesel side, the 2.0 TDI FWD and AWD models will be there to deliver 150 horsepower (110 kW) and 193 horsepower (142 kW), respectively. The 25.7-kWh battery of the PHEV will offer a pure electric range of more than 62 miles (approx. 100 km).
