German luxury carmaker BMW has announced that the company’s next-generation all-electric Neue Klasse (New Class) Concept will be showcased at the next Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas in January 2023.

Nicolas Peter, a Member of the Board of BMW Management who is responsible for finances, delivered a long speech on the automaker’s achievements and aspirations. During the speech, Peter briefly mentioned a new concept EV that will be unveiled at the 2023 CES Las Vegas.

Peter explained that the next highlight on the brand’s road to the Neue Klasse concept will be an all-electric vehicle underpinned by the company’s digital expertise.

Speaking on the topic, the seasoned executive said, “The next highlight on our road to the Neue Klasse will follow in January 2023. At the CES in Las Vegas, we will be unveiling a Vision Vehicle that will underpin our digital expertise. The future of the BMW Group is electric, circular, and digital.”

A production model based on BMW’s new EV platform is expected to be launched sometime in 2025.

At the moment, that is literally all the information about the new concept that the German automaker is planning to introduce at the 2023 CES Las Vegas. Nothing has been revealed about the size and shape of the vehicle, except that it will have a purely electric system. It will be quite interesting to see if the concept vehicle in question will come equipped with the new round-cell batteries, which are expected to give a major boost of 20 per cent to energy density and increase range by 30 per cent, in addition to 30 per cent faster charging speeds.

The first production EV underpinned by the Neue Klasse platform will most probably be a compact electric sedan, which will be an all-electric alternative to the Series-3 sedan. Shortly after the launch of the first Neue Klasse EV, a compact electric SUV based on the same structural design will follow.

Peter went on the state that BMW has plans to gradually grow its EV lineup with models ranging from the high-volume segment to exclusive high-performance models. In the meantime, the brand’s ICE-based models will continue to be based on other platforms. Before the arrival of Neue Klasse EVs, the German automobile manufacturer’s strategy for the future includes rapid expansion of electro-mobility. By the end of 2023, the world-renowned brand aims to have at-least 25 electrified models in its lineup.
